Public Citizen's Health Research Group has launched a new Web site that provides consumers with information about safer drug use, including prescription drugs that are unsafe or ineffective and tips on protecting you and your family from adverse drug reactions. Consumers must subscribe to use the database but it also has free news and information. Searches may be by drug, disease or condition, drug family, drug-induced disease or policy issue.

Safety for Older Drivers
Senior citizens, their families and health professionals with older driver safety questions now have a web based resource with a variety of information, including a comprehensive database listing hundreds of driving rehabilitation specialists located throughout the U.S. The Web site was developed by the American Occupational Therapy Association, with funding from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, The University of Florida, and the National Highway Safety Administration.

Medicare Assistance
A new web-based service will help Medicare beneficiaries of limited income and resources gain access to the extra help available to them through the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003. The service, which will also help them enroll in other health care and prescription drug assistance programs, was developed by the Administration on Aging (AoA) with the assistance of the Centers for Medicare & Medicade Services (CMS) and the National Council on the Aging (NCOA). The new service is a special version of BenefitsCheckUpRx updated for the extra help with medicare drug coverage.
